Variation in human secondary sex ratio after extraordinary natural, social and cultural events

The secondary sex ratio represents the proportion of male and female births and is usually slightly skewed towards male births. Changes in the secondary sex ratio may be induced by a variety of ultimate (evolutionary) or proximate (physiological) causes. These causes tend to be linked to external factors such as natural disasters, armed conflicts, terrorism and/or important cultural and sports events. Natural disasters cause major destruction of housing, infrastructure and loss of lives. Such events are likely to be followed by a decrease in the secondary sex ratio. Stress-induced selection in utero against males is one of the widely discussed causes related to this phenomenon. Armed conflicts and terrorism commonly have a negative impact on society as well, however, an increase in the secondary sex ratio was often observed in the post-war periods. Important cultural and sports events, along with holiday celebrations, have a mostly positive impact on the social climate. These events induce a sense of community and are likely to be followed by an increase in the secondary sex ratio 9 months later, which suggests higher coital rates during such events.

Musical rituals in alternatives kindergartens

ABCTRACT The diploma thesis focuses on seven alternative educational systems in the Czech kindergartens environment in connection with music and musical rituals. The thesis describes the key features of these alternative kindergartens. The theoretical part of the work focuses primarily on the concept of music and musical rituals that are implemented in the given alternatives. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis was to find out and describe these rituals from the available literature regarding the given alternatives. Qualitative research was conducted using a questionnaire survey method among teachers working in the respective kindergartens. The practical part of the thesis presents specific rituals that are implemented in alternative kindergartens. The conclusion of the research describes the contents of musical rituals and presents their sources. Prague coronation of king Matthias on 23rd may 1611 in the light of contemporary documents

To the coronations which took place in Pre-White time, not enough attention has been paid yet. As it appears, enough accounts were preserved not only in contemporary prints but also in manuscript sources - in the works of chroniclers, in memories of persons present and above all in official and private correspondence. In addition to writen sources also material sorces and great part of iconographic sources have been preserved. The elaboration and evaluation of the sources to one of them, to the coronation of Matthias of Habsburg in Prague on May 23rd 1611, is a subject of the first half of this thesis. The coronation in the life of souvereign is a ceremony that generally certificates his leading position in the country. This ceremony customary is executed in accordance to the prede- terminated order. In case of the lands of Bohemian crown binding form has been set by coronation order of Bohemian kings Ordo ad coronandum Regem Bohemorum, prepared by Charles IV. The main core of this order was maintained also by Matthias coronation. His coronation in the cathedrale of Saint Vitus was a festive ceremony strongly influenced by then political situation. St. Wenceslas's millenium through the optics of periodical press

This bachelor thesis focuses on St. Wenceslas's millennium, which means to put in remembrance religious, cultural and political meaning of St. Wenceslas. The most intensive celebrations took place in the last September decade of 1929. The pivotal theme of the work is a response to the main celebrations in the Czech daily press. There is not of course forgotten St. Wenceslas's tradition development, millennium preparations or other events linked to St. Wenceslas's anniversary. These problematics were processed just partially in minor literature and that is why the author wants to make use of it in her analysis of historic sources. So she concentrates on historic press. Although the publications, which originated in connection with the millennium, or the ones that address St. Wenceslas do not escape her attention, too.

Winter landscape painting in the works of the selected Northern European painters between 1560-1660

The diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of selected works of the winter landscape painting of the Norther European painters . Structurally, the work is conducted in such a way that it first introduces the evolution of landscape painting in the Northern Europe from 14.-16. century. In this context, three selected works are analyzed, whose scenes are set in the winter landscape. The cultural-historical context of the 16th-17th centuries is then outlined to familiarize with the circumstances of the time. century in the Netherlands. Then lives and works of the painters presented are briefly mentioned. The core of the thesis is the formal and iconographic analysis of selected works, especially from the workshop of the Brueghel's family and their followers. The Winter in the Genre Painting of the Norther European Painters of the 16th and 17th Centuries

The master thesis called Winter in genre painting of the Northern European region in the 16th and 17th-century focuses with the theme of winter period performed on the works of selected artists from Northern Europe. It deals not only with her impressive atmosphere but mainly observes the habits and traditions of the ordinary inhabitants of the villages or towns what is represented on the pictures. The attention of interest is also biblical scenes connected with the Nativity of Christ or folk celebrations of Christian feats during the winter. The history of education in the village Volduchy

The diploma work focuses on the beginnins and historical development of elementary education in the village of Volduchy since the end of 18th century until 1965. It summarizes and analyzes available regional sources. The first chapter is about the history of Volduchy. Next chapters follow the changes in pedagogical staff, number of pupils, denomination, organisation of education, extracurricular activities, numerous celebrations, significant events, teaching collections as well as the use of the school building. The diploma work also focuses on the influence of historical events and political changes on education.
